Scratch-built Lewis Gun

Joe Weathers continues work on his scratch-built Martn T4 by building a scratch-built Lewis gun. It will be mounted on a 1/16 scale stick and tissue model.

The drum was made with a ½” wooden dowel covered with metalized duct tape, then etched. The breeches are made with basswood structurals: “T”s, Columns, and Channels. The barrel is 1/16” aluminum tube

The ring was cut from the bottom of a 7 ½ oz Coke can. The ratchet that elevates the gun was made by laminating 2 pieces of 1/64” plywood. To cut out the “teeth” he used a square bottom jeweler file, counting the strokes to maintain the same depth. The assembly was than painted with Gun Metal.
