Flexi-File

For Those Hard to Reach Spots by Bob Caruso

Sometimes when constructing models or figures, there are places that can be hard to reach, such as the rounded inside of a figures legs, where a flat hobby file would not be useful. A great way to get into a tight spot such as this, would be to use a flexi-file.

This handy little tool uses narrow strips of sandpaper to get to those trouble spots. A handy trick before using, is to bend the bar out some, thereby putting more tension on the sanding strip. This extra tension on the sandpaper provides better results because it makes the strip more taut.

Because of the increased tension put on the sanding strip though, it is wise to put a layer of packing tape on the inside of the sandpaper’s looped ends so they don’t break.
