Fliegede Untretasse (Flying Saucer)

Fliegede Untretasse (Flying Saucer)

 by Gil Gonsoulin

This started with the Atlantis reissue of the old Lindberg Flying Saucer kit. The kit was modified with a True Details FW-190D-9 cockpit set, Eduard ME 262B-1A phot etch set and engines from the Tamiya V-1 kit.

Tail surfaces came from the Dragon Ba349D Natter kit, modified to fit as seen on the model. The saucer was painted with Model Masters paints and weathered with Winsor Newton oils.

The Launch system is the modified Natter kit launch tower. The round base is scratch built from Evergreen sheet and half-round strips. The Launch skid was scratch built from Plastruct beams and Evergreen strips. The RATO (rocket assisted take off) bottles came from the Natter kit.

Wheels on the tower were from the Tamiya V-1 kit. Launch system was painted with Model Master paints, while the RATO bottles with Tamiya paint. Both were weathered with Winsor Newton oils.
