 Shotgun House

by Tom Bishop

This is an HO scale model of an old-fashioned, New Orleans style Shotgun house. It’s scratch built using a chipboard (also referred to as card stock) sub-structure. ‘Skinning’ the outside of the house are clapboard graphics from a computer program by Evan Design.

The window and doors are pictures taken of real shotgun windows and doors and dropped into the Evan Design program. The files were then printed on adhesive backed mailing labels and applied to the card stock frame.

The scenery is a combination of Woodland Scenics and Scenic Express.

The scenic express tress are a dried plant called Teloxys Aristata, commonly called Sea Foam. The material comes bare, with intricate branching stems. To fill them out with leaves, I applied a flocking material of various hues.

The figures are from Woodland Scenics and the chain link fence is by Plastruct.
