Verdun Stormtrooper

Verdun Stormtrooper

I was surprised just how many of my resin figures had survived a flooded house due to Hurricane Katrina. The Warriors 1/35 German Verdun Stormtrooper, 1916 (WA54033) is truly remarkable!

Even the aluminum foil strip that served as the rifle sling remained intact. This figure remained intact glued to the base when I rediscovered it amid the rubble in our sunroom where I last saw it August 27, 2005. The last I did with this was applying a primer coat of Surfacer 1000.

After cleaning it in soap and water, I painted it first with a base layer of FW acrylic ink and then washes of Vallejo and Tamiya Acrylic.

This is a wonderful kit that comes even with a vignette base. All the pieces are resin. The trickiest part was detaching the rifle from the resin plug. This really turns some modeler off since the resin is so brittle that it breaks easily.

The trick is to use the smallest drill bit possible and drill as many holes as possible until the resin plug easily separates from the part to be used.
