Building the M4A3 Sherman
by Brian Cavet
This is a model of the Tamiya M4A3 Sherman built to replicate one as it would look late-war.
It has been improved with extra detailing, including adding correct raised weld seams where needed. I also added the sponson fillers. Tamiya has this open; it should be closed as on the real thing.
A correct turret with 76mm gun and a turned metal gun barrel from Tank Workshop, as well as photo-etch details from Ordnance Models round it out. Four crew members from Warriors, duckbill end connectors, and stowage finish it off.
All markings are correct for the 14th armored division, which took part in the heavy street fighting in March of 1945. I even put the division patch on the crew figures.
This model has won several awards at model shows including a Gold Medal at the Flying Tigers Contest in New Orleans.
