Glencoe Retriever Rocket
Built by Gil Gonsoulin
Too often we get caught up in trying to make a model look as real as possible. Adding endless tiny, photo-etched brass pieces and scratch building other parts sometimes take the joy out of the hobby.
If that’s the case, then it’s time to take a break and do a “just for fun” build.
Gil Gonsoulin took such a break after doing a couple of nightmare builds. His choice for a change of pace was the Glencoe Retriever Rocket straight out of the box – – with no extra detailing.
The rocket kit was a re-pop of an old Strombecker kit first produced in the 50s. Gill says the kit had a lot of flash but was easy to clean up. He only needed a couple of colors to paint it.
And the best part?
“It was fun to build,” he said.
