Miracle Furniture Build-Out
by Tom Bishop
The Evans software program for designing wall and window facing is outstanding. I took the ho-hum Tyco Miracle Furniture kit and transformed it into a 7 story building.
Using 1/8 inch foam core board, I changed the brick facade on the original kit and added 6 more stories. I used Tacky glue to adhere the computer generated brick patterns instead of white glue because the white glue tends to soak through a bit.
By the way, the windows weren’t added later – they were printed as part of the brick facings. The “bricks” were also glued onto plastic strips on both the corners of the building and the cornices to give it depth.
I designed an entrance-way on the side of the building. The roof’s railing is a piece of girder from Central Valley’s girder set; the sign is from Life Like’s Belvedere Hotel; the fence is trim detail from the Evans disk, done on plywood with a plastic strip on top.
