You’re Gonna Need a Bigger Boat
By Gil Gonsoulin
You’re Gonna Need a Bigger Boat is a takeoff on the scene from Jaws. The boat is Industria Mecahnika’s Waldo, one of Ian Mc Que’s creations.
I added a scratch built wheel house with full interior. This was made of evergreen plastics and real wood strips. Also, I moved the exhaust stack to the rear of the wheel house.
The figure and seagull are from Industria Mecahnika. The shark is from Pagasus Hobby’s Great White kit. I only used it’s front section since it was beaching.
The base is Styrofoam covered with celluclay. Once that dried, I covered it with Liquitex gloss. After this dried I painted it using Winsor Newton oils. White this was drying I coated some Christmas angel hair with Liquitex that contained glass beads.
The dry base was covered again with Liquitex gloss. Then the angel hair was cut and shaped around the shark to show him breaching. Boat, figure, seagull and shark were painted using Floquil, Tamiya, and Model Master enamels, acrylics and metalizer.
Weathering was done using AK crusted rust deposits, Micro-Mark Age-It and Winsor Newton oils.
