Starfighter

by Jack Hollander

This is the 1/32 Italeri F104 G/S Starfighter. I built this it out-of-the-box not adding any extra details. I painted the top Intermediate Blue and Dark Green;the bottom, Light Gray.

StarfighterThe decals were exceptional and there was a lot of them. Made by Cartograph, the clarity is such that you can read even the smallest print. One of the nicest things about them is that there was no excess film. That means No Trimming Necessary!

Also, I didn’t use any decal setting solution. Didn’t have to – water was all I needed. The anti-glare panel – you think I painted it? Nope – that’s a decal, too

The Starfighter had a hinged canopy opening to the side which makes it difficult to pose in the open position so I’m going to have to figure out a way to pin it.

The formation lights were made using Testors canopy glue.

I used AKI for a wash. I had a problem with it, though. It dried to a thin film and then it peeled off in some spots. just like flaking skin. On the bottom, I used a wash byMIG, which I now prefer over AKI.
