DUKW Restoration

The Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff’s Office in New Orleans started DUKW restoration work which will eventually become part of the collection of the National D-Day Museum. John Daniel has taken a few photos of the vehicle, which we present here.. As you can see, the vehicle has undergone a few “improvements” during its post-war service.
Here’s a side view of the duck. Before it came to New Orleans, it belonged to the East Baton Rouge Sheriffs office.
Here’s a bow shot. Notice that the surf shield is missing.
This is the drivers compartment. Note that the original data plates are still there.
