Mk IV “Male” Tank
By Brian Cavet
This Tamiya 1/35 Word War I Mk IV “Male” tank came as a motorized kit.
What’s interesting is thatthis thing can actually crawl over obstacles.
I used Tamiya paint with their suggested color call-outs from the instructions. It was a 50/50 mix of Tamiya XF52 and XF55, thinned 60/40 thinner to paint and sealed with Testors Dull Coat. I used the one in the 1 3/4 oz square jar.
For the tracks, I used a two-part metal glob mixture from Sophisticated Finishes which is a liquid of pure ground metals. It produces a true metallic finish on virtually any paintable surface. Then I applied some pigments to accentuate it.
I put a light dusting of earth colored pigments along the bottom. This was added after the dull coat otherwise it would get washed out. I also used AKI environmental Earth/Grass on the bottom, Streaking Grime, and the Tamiya Panel Line Wash.
