Roundhouse and Turntable
By Matt Hardey
This building began life as a Fine Scale Miniatures kit circa 1972-73. I reversed it left-to-right by cutting new walls to suit the location on my railroad. Detailing on the outside – like the various junk piles, etc. is not quite completed, but I am pleased with the result.
The turntable pit is from Diamond Scale Models. The ground cover is local dirt that has been baked in the oven to dry it, then ground to powder in an old Mr. Coffee grinder and sifted over a base coat of thinned artists matte medium.
