Type VII Submarine
by Bob Caruso
The idea behind this display was to have a submarine emerging from the ocean.
I cut the sub (1/400 scale kit from PST) in half at an angle and put the front top 3/4 of it on a wood base covered with sculpted styrofoam. The water was built up with putty and colored with acrylic paint, then glazed over with many coats of gloss.
I then painted the water streams from the side of the ship to make it surfacing on a rough sea. The sub was painted in enamels and glossed appropriately.
